Shania Twain and the NOW Tour swing into Tampa…

On Saturday night, Tampa welcomed Canadian Grammy-winning country-pop star Shania Twain to the Amalie Arena. This is Shania’s first visit to the bay area since 2004 as she promotes her new album, Now. Opening act Bastain Baker joined the festivities.

As the crowd anxiously awaited Twain to take the stage, the sound of a drum reverberated throughout the venue from a small B-stage at the back of the orchestra, as the drummer played the intro to “We Will Rock You”. The venue erupted as the star magically made her appearance not on either stage but walking through the crowd as she made her way to the stage.

Grand entrances, selfies on stage with fans, back-up singers and dancers, more neon and animal print visuals than an 80’s hairband wardrobe, singing from a guitar-case swing in mid-air, costume changes, a video montage and confetti. If that was not enough for your entertainment dollar throw in a 21-song set that pleased both country and pop fans alike.

Opening act Bastain Baker made his way back to the stage to sing “Party of Two” and “Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed” with Shania.
