For the first Bike Night of the 2018 season, the City of Cape Coral Special Events Division and 96 K-Rock put together one rocking little package for the thousands in attendance. The event included local favorites Maiden Cane as well as the legendary Quiet Riot.
For over a decade, the City of Cape Coral has been hosting Bike Night. Taking the stage first was the SWFL based Maiden Cane led by Cliff Randi (Vocals), Joey Gilbert (Guitar), Peter Siracuse (Guitar), Jim Keiffer (Bass), Billy Day (Keyboards) and Troy Parrish (Drums). These seasoned professionals, some of which have played alongside the likes of REO Speedwagon, Eddie Money, Molly Hatchet, Joan Jett, Dream Theater and Brian Howe just to name a few. At last year’s opening Bike Night Maiden Cane opened for the legendary Lita Ford and blew the crowd away! Maiden Cane’s Anthems of Arena Rock show combines all the elements of the legendary rock shows of the 70’s and 80’s. Spectacular hits by Boston, Journey, Styx, Bon Jovi, the Scorpions, Def Leppard, and many others are covered meticulously and performed with the energy and excitement of the original band in their heyday.
While Maiden Cane performs mostly covers, they also write their own original music, which is peppered into the show. Their music has found its way across the globe and has been featured in regular rotation on many of the larger internet radio stations. Two of their songs have reached the top of several rock music charts in New Zealand, Australia and Canada, as well as many indie charts right here in the USA. Maiden Cane has become a global internet radio favorite.
Maiden Cane’s most recent video for the original song, “Fallen Angel” has over 12,000 views on YouTube and has been adapted into regular rotation on many indie video channels. Next to the stage was the mighty Quiet Riot led by long time members Frankie Banali (drums) and Chuck Wright (Bass). Alex Grossi (Guitar) had joined the band back in 2004 and newcomer James Durbin joined the band in 2017.
Through the years the band has released numerous records but only “Metal Health” and “Condition Critical” were the ones that were commercially successful reaching platinum status. Released in March of 1983, “Metal Health” rose to the number one spot, knocking out The Police’s “Synchronicity” with the help of songs like “Cum on Feel the Noise” and the title track “Metal Health”.
On August 4, 2017, the band released its thirteenth studio album called “Road Rage”. Originally scheduled to be released earlier in April; however, the vocal tracks had to be replaced by James Durbin after he replaced Seann Nicols. The video for the single “Can’t Get Enough “was debuted by Billboard Magazine in July of 2017.
Quiet Riot hit the stage and didn’t hold anything back as James Durbin showed why he is the lead vocalist with a very impressive stage presence as well as an incredible voice. He was definitely very fun to capture in pictures. Frankie, Chuck and Alex were all equally impressive with their performance as well. I found myself going back in time for a little bit listening to all their biggest hits. It has been a long, long time since I have been to a Quiet Riot show. I did get to see them a few times back in the early eighties and it took a little adjusting to the different faces however I think the current line up works very well together.
