Cobress shakes things up at South Street

On Saturday July 20th, Cobress took to the stage at South Street City Oven and Grill and wowed the crowd with what they call their “Witchwave”.

From the drop of the first note everyone came up to the stage and were moving with the beat through the entire set. It’s pretty safe to say everyone was having a lot of fun and the music was great. We first came across Cobress last year at The Ranch in Fort Myers when they opened the show for Letters from the Fire, He Is Legend and Nonpoint. They sounded great back then but they have definitely come together in the last year.

From the band’s Bio:

Cobress is based out of Fort Myers, FL. The band formed in 2017, and is comprised of Frankie Orion (guitar, vocals), Colin Orion (bass, synth, vocals), Louie Calavera (drums, percussion), and Xid (guitar, synth, programming, vocals).

Cobress’ sound invents a category all its own sitting somewhere between the retro synth-wave/dark-wave pop genres, and gothic electronic rock, creating what the members have dubbed “Witchwave”.

After the release of their debut EP Stagestomp in 2018, Cobress’ popularity continued to grow exponentially in the Southwest Florida music scene. The band is currently preparing the release of their second album, Neon Royale, which will be a four-part full length, and will release late 2019.

In addition to having a refreshing and interesting new sound, you certainly don’t want to miss their exciting and sexual live stage performance either. Cobress employs everything from lasers and lights to diamonds, glitter and elaborate costumes to make their unforgettable live show something nobody should miss.

Keep your eyes on this up and coming group, because they are definitely on the rapid rise.

South Street City Oven & Grill is not your typical rock bar nor is it a large venue. What they are is a great place with some of the best food that allows you the opportunity to get up close and personal with your favorite acts from various genres. We love this place and the people and we try to get here as often as we can!! You can check out South Street on Facebook as well as their website: www.southstreetnaples.com
