Co-headliners Shinedown and Godsmack…

Godsmack/Shinedown
08/10/18 – Oklahoma City

The Zoo Amphitheater in Oklahoma City hosted 100.5’s KATTFEST on Friday night,  featuring co-headliners Shinedown and Godsmack. Despite the chance of thunderstorms, fans lined up by the thousands to enjoy an evening of some great rock and roll outdoors.

Hailing from New Zealand, Like a Storm had the honor of kicking things off and didn’t waste one minute on stage. The raw energy and charisma they put off seemed to light a fire under the crowds feet. Screaming guitars and soaring vocals combined with didgeridoo solos definitely caught people off guard…and they loved it!

Shinedown hit the stage next and came hard with the heavy hitting “Sound of Madness”.  Racing around the stage, singer Brent Smith quickly worked the fans into a frenzy while fire and explosions erupted from the stage. Relentlessly tearing through their set, they fueled the fire with favorites like “Cut the Cord” and “State of My Head”. The band changed things up a bit later in the evening by performing a few acoustic songs out in the lawn, including a cover of “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Shinedown is by far one of the hardest working bands in the business right now and it’s no wonder they have such a loyal fan base that is constantly growing.

With the crowd on their heels, Godsmack led on a full assault and threw the next punch with  “When Legends Rise”.  Sully Erna’s growling vocals fueled the growing energy of the fans as the attack continued with “Keep Away” and “Voodoo”. Rounding out a powerhouse performance, they ended their set with a cover of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” with members of Like a Storm and Shinedown. Although heavy rains and wind had threatened the show earlier that day, it was Godsmack who brought the thunder and tore the roof off the place Friday night.
