Vertical Horizon brought their great personalities and sound to the SWFL Event Center in Bonita Springs, FL.
Vertical Horizon actually formed as a duo in the early 90’s on the campus of Gerogetown University with Matt Scannell and Keith Lane. After graduation the duo moved to Boston and released their debut album, There and Back Again.
They toured as a duo for a few years and released their next album Running on Ice in 1995. Though Running On Ice was still mostly acoustic based, it included other musicians which gave it more of a full band sound. Wash Away and The Man Who Would Be Santa were featured on a compilation album by Aware Records.
In the late 90’s, they began to attract the attention of several record executives from various labels but ultimately signed with RCA Records. In 1999, the album Everything You Want was released which has become certified Double Platinum by the RIAA having sold over two million copies in the US alone. Those sales were driven largely by the title track, Everything You Want which went straight to the top of the charts and became the 5th most played song on radio in 2000.
Fast forward to February of 2018 and Vertical Horizon released the album The Lost Mile with Outfall Records. Richard Marx also played a role by providing backing vocals to I’m Gonna Save You. The Lost Mile CD features a beautiful 12-page booklet, which includes behind-the-scenes photos, complete lyrics, and liner notes by noted music journalist, Stephen Humphries. There are limited numbers of the CD signed by Matt Scannell so you may want to act fast!

On the night before Easter, Vertical Horizon took to the stage of the SWFL Event Center much to the delight of fans who attended. It was kind of a tough night to sell being right before a major holiday however Scannell and his band went on to give those that were there one great show. One thing that caught our eye was that Scannell always seemed to be smiling as he was singing.
