Thrice’s fourth studio album Vheissu has been the bands greatest triumph and most well received to date. Released on October 18th 2005, the album topped out at 14 on the Billboard 200 charts as well as number 17 on the digital album charts.

One of the many reasons this album stood out, was it’s complex and experimental writing approach separating itself from the others before. But tonight, the sold out crowd would get to get to experience this breakthrough album on a whole other level.

While a full house grows anxious, the house lights go off and the place starts to shake with the screams of everyone in attendance. Through the darkness, singer Dustin Kensrue leads the four piece out onto the stage for a night these fans won’t soon forget.

Before long, the band kickoff this highly anticipated show with the first track off of this incredible album with “Image of the Invisible”. As Thrice starts into “Between the End And Where We Lie”, the lights go off in the building, only to have individual bulbs against the black tapestry on stage slowly illuminate then twinkle out throughout the intro of the song.

Half way through the set, the opening of “Hold Fast Hope” ignites the first real mosh pit of the night as the pyramid of lights from the stage light up the floor, while the crowd screamed the chorus line back to the band amidst the chaos.

Something that was an almost constant was how each song took on a life of its own. Whether it be each member of the band adding their own voicing or phrasing elements to different parts, down to even the lighting itself changing the mood over the course of a song almost like a wave of calmness carrying you from part to part.

Thrice pulled out all the stops to ensure every fan enjoyed this special show celebrating 15 years of an amazing album. Even after the “album” portion of the set was done, the band gave the fans songs off of their EP Red Sky with “Weight of Glory” & “Flags of Dawn” and even “Lullaby” off of the Hopelessly Devoted To You Vol. 6 compilation.

The band wrapped up the show in style, playing a two song encore including the emotionally fluid track “Circles” off of 2009’s Beggars followed by their biggest commercial success “Black Honey”, closing it out with the biggest sing along of the entire night.

Only 5 shows on this tour are left, with 2 of them already sold out, so make sure you get your tickets while they are still available. For all tour info, merch and music, head over the Thrice’s website at thrice.net.
