Its been a busy winter for The Revivalists as they released their brand new album, Take Good Care, via Loma Vista Recordings in November and 5-shows in January with another lucky 13-shows between March and April. The tour brings 3-stops to the sunshine state; Orlando, St. Petersburg and wrapped up in Key West. The follow-up to the band’s Men Amongst Mountains, is a 14-track studio record featuring “You And I” and “All My Friends“.
The Revivalists are an American rock band formed in New Orleans, Louisiana, and the eight-piece band consists of Ed Williams, David Shaw, Zack Feinberg, Rob Ingraham, George Gekas, Andrew Campanelli, Michael Girardot and Paulet “PJ” Howard was added to the line up on drums and percussion in 2017.
Ironically, it was the same time last year that the band took center stage at Jannus Live as they mesmerized their adoring fans. A busy First Friday in downtown St Pete added to the madness outside the venue as the sold-out crowd filed into an endless line of excited fans hoping to land those coveted spots closest to the stage. Shuffling through the crowd, one could hear fans reminiscing with strangers on the previous years show and discussing the band’s latest release.
The New Orleans-based group, known for their contagious live energy and songwriting, seemed to take fans on a musical journey that is to be expected of a seasoned jam band. Fans were treated to a heavy dose of music off the band’s latest release, Take Good Care, as well as tunes from Men Amongst Mountains, Vital Signs and The Revivalists. The band enjoys slipping in the occasional cover and this evening’s initial encore was the 1988 hit “She Drives Me Crazy” by the Fine Young Cannibals.
