Music Madness caught up with Beartooth’s Below Tour Part 2 at New Haven, Connecticut’s College Street Music Hall. The venue was mostly full right from the start of the show. Opening the evening was Alabama’s metalcore faves, Erra. Formed in 2009, they’ve released several studio albums and EPs. The latest of releases is 2021’s self-titled album, Erra. They kicked off the show with a blistering set that got the crowd fired up for what was to come. Vocalist JT Cavey cut loose with killer vocals in front of a super-tight band. No doubt this tour will bring more fans into their circle and gain them the notoriety they deserve! Keep your eyes open for this band because you won’t be disappointed!
Hailing from Ohio, The Devil Wears Prada took the stage after a brief break, barely giving the crowd a chance to catch their breath. Formed in 2005 as a Christian metal band, they have since morphed into straight-up metalcore. They kept the energy level high as frontman Mike Hranica led the band through a blistering set. They kicked it off with their latest release, Watchtower. One has to wonder how they could keep the intensity level going but they did. Their entire 7 song set had the crowd going wild.
Still going strong after 22 years, Canadian rockers Silverstein kept the intensity level pegged at maximum level. The band has a unique connection with its fan base through all forms of social media. Their live show connects with their fans more so. Crowd surfers took to their lofty heights as soon as the set began as fans at the barrier sang along with vocalist Shane Told. They treated their fans to a well-blended mix of the older songs with new ones, all of which rocked the house!
Taking the stage to AC/DC’s TNT, Beartooth raised the roof! Hailing from Ohio, the metal giants ripped into the title track of their latest release, “Below”. Confetti cannons fired into the crowd to the delight of all. The stage was fitted with a raised platform that ran the width of the stage and singer Caleb Shomo paced across every inch of it like a wild animal. The Below Tour Part 2 had arrived in New Haven!
Touring in support of 2021’s release “Below”, their full-length headlining set showed why they are rising quickly in the ranks of touring acts. Not only do they sound tight, but they are also a visually stimulating band. Along with the confetti cannons, they have CO2 guns and intense back-of-stage video screens. Beartooth’s intensity level never drops as Shomo delivers fierce vocals in front of catchy guitar riffs and heavy bass lines.
Beartooth’s The Below Tour Part 2 is wrapping up its North American leg. It was packed with one hell of a metal lover’s lineup! Beartooth will soon be heading over to continue its tour in Europe and will no doubt take the continent by storm!
