Talking Wildstreet and their latest release “Tennessee Cocaine” with Eric Jayk

WILDSTREET has released their official music video for their single “Tennessee Cocaine.” The single was released on all major digital and streaming platforms August 23rd. After taking a 2 1/2 year break and dodging rumors of a band breakup, WILDSTREET exploded back onto the NYC scene in 2016, headlining Gramercy Theatre with new lineup.

“Tennessee Cocaine’s the greatest feeling on the greatest night of your life. It’s like a speed ball laced w/adrenaline & cut w/ ecstasy. It’s hedonistic, instinctual, sexual like the gun burning ink in your veins. “Tennessee Cocaine” represents an addiction.. a addiction of humanity shall I say… to be free, to be an individual, & to live on our own terms. It’s about being the superstar or rockstar, at the best party.. on the best night of your life…” says Eric Jayk.

WILDSTREET began in 2006 and released their self-titled debut album on Retrospect Records in 2009. The band spent the next 4 years touring nonstop & performing at US festivals including: Rocklahoma (5 consecutive years), SXSW & M3 Rock Festival. WILDSTREET rocked alongside Black Veil Brides, Vains of Jenna, The Bouncing Souls, The Last Vegas, Twisted Sister, Michael Monroe, Crashdiet, Diemonds, Kix, LA Guns and more. The band won the Best Buy/Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands for Rockstar Energy’s Uproar Festival, and opened for Avenged Sevenfold, Sevendust and Three Days Grace in Camden, NJ.

Music Madness caught up with Eric for a state of the union on the band, new music and touring…

Music Madness: Congrats on the release of video and single “Tennessee Cocaine.” How has the feedback been?

Eric: It’s been really awesome. I’ve been connecting with fans all over the world who are stoked on Wildstreet and anxious to hear more new music and it’s just awesome. It’s like, people are still listening to again rock and roll, you know what I mean.

Music Madness: Watching the video for “Tennessee Cocaine” took me right back to the eighties…the look, the sound. It was like one big party.

Eric: Awesome. Yeah. I think we’re pretty authentic with how we do it. And there’s so many great bands from that period, so…

Music Madness: There’s nothing wrong with that. There’s a reason why that music is still played and why those bands still tour.

Eric: Totally.

Music Madness: What is the state of the union of Wildstreet in 2019 and beyond?

Eric: Well, the band Wildstreet right now, is the band I’ve always wanted it to be. I have guys who are great musicians and good friends and I’m stoked about the music that we wrote and the recording that we did. Obviously, “Tennessee Cocaine” is the first single for our new full length album called Wildstreet III. That is the third record that we put out. We’re not so creative I guess, with our album names. But, it’s like everything that everybody thinks when they think of Wildstreet and what we’ve done, it breaks all those rules. It breaks everybody’s preconceived notions about the band and we’re definitely going to melt a lot of faces with this new record.

I can’t wait for everybody to hear. We’re working on the video for our next single, which is called “Three Way Ride” and we’re going to shoot that in New York next week. We are planning some tours right now and generally trying to live life, man.

Music Madness: Is there a date for the release of the third album, Wildstreet III?

Eric: No, we’re going to put out some singles and do some touring and get our fanbase back to being buzzing and remembering who we are and out to shows. And then we’ll drop the album. It’ll be a minute, but I think the singles and videos will keep people interested.

Music Madness: Very cool. Once upon time, you guys were kind of these road warriors. Is that kind of the thought process going forward to support the new music?

Eric: Well, no, it’s going to be intelligent touring. In the past, we did certain tours that were given to us. But now, I’m doing a lot of research, figuring out the places where we have the most fans and the most solid audience to come to shows. And picking out bands that I want to play with and not just taking shows, trying to make everything worthwhile because I think our music is great. I think we put on a great show and it’s not worth playing to nobody. You know what I mean. I want to play to people who want to hear our music. Just want to maximize the amount of people that see us, play the biggest shows and live the life that I want to live, which is rocking to as many people as possible. We’re going to be touring a lot, but we’re going to be intelligently touring.

Music Madness: How did you guys get involved with Dorothy?

Eric: We played with Dorothy at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City in 2018. It was sold out. It was an awesome show. We won a contest that she was putting on…a fan friend, a longtime supporter of Wildstreet, clued me into it and I applied and we were selected. It was an awesome show and she’s really talented and absolutely stunning.

Music Madness: Looking forward to the next video and song to be released.

Eric: We shoot it next weekend. It’ll probably be done a few weeks after that. Then we’re looking at sometime in November to have the next single out.

Music Madness: Outstanding. Good luck man!
