The Rockstar Energy Disrupt Festival landed in the sweltering heat of Tampa as they introduced fans to a new music festival experience. The MidFlorida Credit Union Amp hosted the mid-week festival that included a full days lineup featuring The Used, Thrice, Circa Survive, The Story So Far, Memphis May Fire, Sleeping With Sirens, Andy Black, Four Year Strong, Trophy Eyes, Juliet Simms and Hyro The Hero. The lineup will see multiple changes throughout the 25-city summer tour enticing fans to check out more than one stop.
One of the festival’s unique features allowed fans to maximize their experience by only scheduling one band to take the stage at a time so fans were able to catch all the action. Absolutely no need to map out who you wanted to see more or trying to figure out how you could be at two places at once…a refreshing change. The festival grounds were filled with pop-up tents offering opportunities for concertgoers to purchase their favorite band’s merch as well as a chance to meet or even catch a glimpse of their favorite musician.
Hyro The Hero kicked off the festivities amidst the afternoon heat and they brought their ‘A’ game with a set that could only be described as a musical circus. Rap-metal frontman Hyro brought an intensity second to none and laid down an aerial assault that kept his feet off the ground every chance he got. Hyro The Hero continues to build momentum as the band as been mainstays on the 2019 festival circuit.
The Festival Stage wrapped up with long-time fan favorites Sleeping With Sirens as Kellin, Jack, Gabe, Nick, and Justin turned up the heat as they commanded every inch of the stage and the crowd responded wildly. What a great way to wrap up the afternoon as as all eyes turned to the main stage. Keep a look out for the bands upcoming release, Leave It All Behind, out September 6th.
Kicking off the Main Stage was metalcore powerhouse Memphis May Fire lead by frontman Matty Mullins and his fiery attitude. MMF’s 9-song set was a solid mix of old and new songs as the set wrapped with fan favorites “Vices” and closed with “The Sinner”.
As the sun started the set on a gorgeous day, The Story So Far, Circa Survive and Thrice each delivered spirited sets as they navigated the crowd that had grown in size into the early evening and set the stage for the headliner.
The Used and frontman Bert McCracken delivered a high octane set that brought the crowd to its feet. The animated lead singer, McCracken, the man of a 1,000 faces, dripped in sweat as he and his bandmates delivered a vintage set. The evening closed with Sleeping With Sirens frontman, Kellin Quinn, as he joined The Used onstage to sing “A Box Full of Sharp Objects”.
