One Last Road Trip For 2Cellos – Music Madness Magazine

The air at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Arena was full of anticipation. 2Cellos had returned to the US touring to promote their latest release, “Dedicated”.

First up on the bill was singer/songwriter Matt Simons. Simons grew up in and is presently based in the Los Angeles area but he gained his notoriety in Europe. He was very well received by the crowd who enjoyed his soulful music. Check out his 2020 release “Better Tomorrow“. It’s an inward-looking song about dealing with anxiety, a subject many of us have had to deal with in one way or another during these crazy pandemic times.

2Cellos is a Slovenian-Croatian cellist duo, consisting of classically trained cellists, Luka Šulić and Stjepan Hauser. They have been recording since 2011 and have become huge Internet sensations with almost 6 million YouTube subscribers and almost 1.5 billion views. They are releasing videos from each night of the tour and you can see the video from Mohegan Sun Arena HERE.

Their music transcends the small screen and it plays really well on the big stage. One wouldn’t think that an act consisting of merely two cellos would be able to produce the satisfying arena-filling sound that they put out. As the show progressed, they were joined by drummer Dušan Kranjc who gave them the over-the-top sound on the more rocking songs like the several AC/DC covers they performed. They are not only tremendous musicians, but they also seem to have a lot of fun doing what they do. They bantered with the audience much to their fans’ delight. At one point, Hauser announced he loved the audience and asked if they’d marry him.

They are playing what they are saying is their final live tour. Let’s hope they are like so many big-name bands who eventually return to the live stage after playing their farewell tour. For future dates, click HERE.
