Miramar Amphitheater 07/03/2018
It was a hot and humid night in Miramar, Florida and things got even hotter as the Loudwire Gen-X Summer Tour hit the stage at the Miramar Amphitheater brought to you by the fine folks at Rockfest Concerts. The hottest tour of the summer features Buckcherry, P.O.D., Lit and Alien Ant Farm.
First, to hit the stage was Alien Ant Farm, led by lead singer Dryden Mitchell, guitarist Terry Corso, bass Player Timmy Peugh and drummer Mike Cosgrove. They quickly showed why they deserved to be on the tour with a rockin’ set consisting of material from their five albums, which included; “Bad Morning”, “Forgive and Forget”, “Movies”, “These Days”, “Glow”, “Sticks and Stones”, and the ever-popular Michael Jackson cover, “Smooth Criminal”.
Lit hit the stage next with lead singer A. Jay Popoff, guitarist Jeremy Popoff, Bassist Kevin Baldes and drummer Terry Starling. They kicked off their set with a great cover of Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker’s “American Girl”. From there they went on to play “Zip-lock”, “Someday Maybe”, “Good Problem to Have”, “Miserable”, “The Last Time Again”, to name just a few and they finished off their set with the popular “My own Worst Enemy” from their A Place in the Sun album.
P.O.D (Payable on Death) members Sonny Sandoval (lead singer), Noah “Wuv” Bernardo Jr. (drummer), Marcos Curiel (guitar) and Mark “Traa” Daniels (bass) stormed the stage next playing “Boom” which got the crowd on their feet and into a rock and roll frenzy wanting more. It was great to see the mini youth choir join them on stage for “Youth of the Nation”. Other songs in their set were “Rock the Party (off the hook)”, “Southtown”, “Southern Cali in my Head”, “Rocking with the Best”, “On Fire”, “Beautiful”, “Alive” and their latest release “Soundboy Killa”. After 26 years, nine albums and another to be released in September of this year, P.O.D. has proven that they have the skills and attitude to remain extremely relevant in this day and age.
It was getting late but the crowd wanted more and Buckcherry was ready to deliver as they burst onto the stage. Josh Todd (vocals) led their charge with Stevie D. (lead guitar), Kelly Lemieux (bass) and new members Kevin Roentgen (guitar) and Sean Winchester (drums). They opened up their high energy set with a cover of House of Pain’s “Jump Around”. From there they went on to play “Ridin”, “Whiskey in the Morning”, “Slammin” and many more and finished up the set with “Crazy Bitch”. The crowd wasn’t ready to leave, they wanted more and Buckcherry came back with three encores.
The Loudwire Gen-X Summer Tour was set out on a mission to deliver a rocking summer tour and they delivered just that. Rockfest Concerts continues to bring you the best acts to the region and the Miramar Amphitheater is such a great venue giving you that intimate show feel.
