After an extensive tour of the US during the early Summer, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls are returning! The tour starts Friday 8/23 in Sayerville, NJ and rolls through mostly Western US and Canadian venues through mid- September. See below for list of shows. Once that ends, Frank and company head to Toronto where this year’s Lost Evenings festival is calling home.
This tour is the second half of the US tour which is supporting his latest release “Undefeated”. The new songs were very well received by fans new and old. Turner continues to show he is one of the premier song writers of our day. He weaves introspective stories and powerful opinions with a musical backing that highlights the topic at hand. Of course, Frank and company pull out old standard fan favorites as well as deep cuts. One never knows what they might pull out of their hats! This is why the “Frank Turner Army” travels to so many shows. It’s not the same show night after night.
If it’s anything like the first half , this half of the tour is not to be missed! The energy levels were high from start to finish in spite of some unbearable temperatures along the way. Having to tend to family matters, bassist Tarrant Anderson missed the early Summer leg but he’ll be returning for round two. Filling in admirably on bass was long time member of the touring family and a damn good musician, Cahir O’Doherty. As the tour rolled on and he became more comfortable with his new duties, his on stage persona grew. Taunting the crowds as a WWE villain would do, he had crowds laughing, cheering, and jeering.
Opening the show will be veterans of the first part of this tour, Bridge City Sinners. For those unfamiliar, they are a high energy band that some have dubbed “satanic folk music”. Yes, you read that right! They just released their latest full length, “In The Age Of Doubt”. While their studio albums are fantastic, they need to be seen live to truly appreciate them. They deliver their unique music with passion and power that has the audience entranced.
Also playing on this bill is Toronto Canada’s Bedouin Soundclash. Like Bridge City Sinners, this trio has a very unique sound. They blend a touch of reggae with alternative rock that make people happy and gets them dancing. After taking a hiatus, in 2019 they released their 5th album, “MASS” which was highly acclaimed in the indie community.
