Disturbed kicks-off the second leg of the Evolution Tour at the Hertz Arena…

Disturbed is no stranger to Southwest Florida, as the band had donned the stage at the now-defunct Fort Rock festival in South Fort Myers. Thursday night Disturbed kicked off the second leg of the North American tour at the Hertz Arena in support of the band’s Evolution album. Joining the hard rockers on tour are the ever popular female-fronted metal outfit In This Moment.

In This Moment, known for their aesthetically pleasing and elaborate stage sets that rarely disappoint. Maria Brinks, serenaded the crowd in her signature red gown and crown upon her head as the evenings festivities kicked-off as “Fly Like an Eagle” plays. Joining Brink’s on stage are her faceless ‘Blood Girls‘ that surround the rocker as if they are a three person extension of the singer. The ‘Blood Girls‘ give this feeling of art coming to life. Unfortunately, as the evening’s opening act, the sets are shorter; however, each song felt like a show within itself. The set closed as Maria approached her “Whore” chariot as she spoke to concertgoers to inspire them to be the best they can be.

Headliners and hard rock powerhouse Disturbed took the stage with vigor as they taunted fans with the classic “Are You Ready.” The stage was backlit with an enormous video screen playing all kinds of videos, inspirational messages and snapshots of Disturbed through the years. It was evident that the band; David Draiman, Dan Donegan, Mike Wengren, and John Moyer, were hitting on all cylinders this evening as they delivered a 17-song set to the metal starved Southwest Florida fanbase. Included in the set was an inspirational message to those dealing with addiction and depression issues. It’s touching to see musicians coming together to spread the message that we are not alone when it comes to issues of addiction and depression. There was no slowing down a the band’s set played like a greatest hits album of fan favorites; “Stupify”, “Down with the Sickness”, and the famous Simon and Garfunkel remake of “The Sound of Silence”. One can never go wrong with an In This Moment or Disturbed show, so combining these two stellar acts into one night of rocking is a no-brainer.
