It’s their Twentieth Anniversary and Crazy Town X left a lasting impression on the crowd at South Street in Naples, FL. From the moment they took the stage and until the last note was played the crowd was immersed in the musical journey just as much as the band was.
Shifty (Seth Binzer) was just as cool as could be. We all know the road he went down but I’m here to tell he brought his ‘A’ game and didn’t miss a beat!! Prior to taking to the stage he spent a lot of time with people taking pictures and just hanging out. Even after the show he made himself available at the merch table.
Joining Shifty on vocal duties was none other than Jonathan Russell (Lethal Injektion, Stands with Fist). The shirt he wore said “Beast Mode” and that’s the mode he was in all night as he moved about the stage and entertaining us with his vocal prowess.
Elias Tannous has been rockin’ the guitar and providing back up vocals since 2016. It’s pretty interesting how Elias hooked up with Crazy Town. He kept messaging Shifty, telling him if he ever needed a guitarist that he was the guy to do it. He does a great job indeed! Very cool to see that his method worked out for him.
On bass was the wild man Philip Nielsen. He’s originally from Copenhagen, Denmark and had toured through Europe with PixLips and It Came From A Lab. He moved to LA roughly 8 years ago and joined Grit as well as Swarming Orchids. Philips stage presence was just as wild as his ability to play. He was so much fun to watch and capture him in action.
Roland Banks does an absolutely incredible job on drums as well as backing vocals. This isn’t very surprising with over thirty years of experience. He’s also an accomplished drum builder. He founded Diamond Kut Drum Co. back in 2011 and has performed in the presence of Norwood Fisher from Fishbone, Malike Yusef of G.O.O.D. Music, Joe Warlick, Travis Barker and many other talented and established musicians. He happens to be one hell of a guy as well, after the show he went around personally thanking everyone for being there.
All in all, this was one very fun show with a great cast of characters. The energy flowing through the band and the vibe flowing through South Street was incredible. I for one, am very anxious to see what comes next from Crazy Town X and when they return you can bet I will be there to cover that show!
