When I heard that Daughtry and Tremonti were coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall, in Clearwater FL, I knew it was going to be an amazing show. When I got to the venue, fans were lined up outside waiting to get in for VIP access with Daughtry. It is always an awesome time seeing fans so pumped to meet an artist and enjoy a night of live music. Then again, I love live music too so I totally get it and mix that with the amazing weather, it made for a great night to get out of the house and enjoy yourself.
The first band of the night was a band I have not heard of before called Lyell. When they took the stage I was pleasantly surprised by the tight sound of the instruments and the powerful voice of Lyell herself. She had a sound similar to Billie Eilish with a slightly more aggressive and driving tone but overall, her set was very enjoyable and seemed to be enjoyed by the enthusiastic crowd that arrived early to see her perform.
Next up was Tremonti, who if you didn’t know, is the lead guitarist from the bands, Alter Bridge and Creed. Mark Tremonti’s solo project, Tremonti, hit the music scene full force in 2012 and it features in your face, progressive metal riffs, that are very technically difficult to play but pleasing to the ear. The band opened their set with the song “Thrown Further” and the crowd was definitely feeling it. The amazing guitar work of Mark Tremonti, matched with guitarist counterpart, Eric Friedman, made for an insanely awesome night of guitar riffs. Tanner Keegan backs the duo on bass, while Ryan Bennett lays down the beat backbone on the drums. Tremonti’s set goes by fast because when you’re watching them perform, you become mesmerized at the awesome lighting and technicality of the music, and before you know it, it’s sadly over.
Finally, it was time for Daughtry to hit the stage. Chris Daughtry has been an instant success ever since being on the fifth season of American Idol. Something about his voice screams rock and roll and the fans love it. By this time in the night, Ruth Eckerd Hall was packed. Almost every seat was full and when Daughtry opened up their set with “Desperation”, the crowd was ecstatic. The energy on stage and in the crowd was incredible, which made for an awesome time photographing the band. The fans were singing along to just about every song and you could tell by the smile that Chris had on his face, that he really loves performing for his fans.
Now I don’t want to spoil the show for those who have tickets to attend one of the remaining tour dates but let me tell you this, you won’t be disappointed.
